The Japanese society and its inner workings can be puzzling from a Western point of view.
Who really are the Japanese and how do they live every day? The present topic is trying to overcome prejudices and bias, be they negative (such as the honne / tatemae duality), or positive (such as people’s kindness, cleanliness). The aim is to better know and understand the particularities of the Japanese society, in analyzing different aspects, including but not limited to:
- Traditions and culture,
- The contemporary functioning of society,
- Topical issues,
- The influence of Japanese society beyond the archipelago’s borders.
On a more down-to-earth level, it includes knowledge of the basics of Japanese language, practical guides useful for daily life, and comparisons of widespread subjects of concern.
With the introduction to the society and our analysis, we endeavor increasing a better knowledge of the archipelago and polishing its attractiveness far from the received opinions. And it might also help avoid some common mistakes while traveling in Japan.
