gol. STORE TSUBASA Kichijoji
⚽ Shop for the Nankatsu SC’s Fans in the West of Tokyo
gol. STORE TSUBASA Kichijoji is both an official merchandise shop themed on the Captain Tsubasa manga and a soccer apparel store located in Kichijoji, a neighborhood in the west of Tokyo in Japan. It was inaugurated in April 2026, in the wake of the 1rst Captain Tsubasa official shop opened in 2023 in Katsushika, in the north-eastern suburb of the capital.
gol. STORE TSUBASA Kichijoji opened on 2026, April 1rst and is the 2nd official shop selling Captain Tsubasa manga’s merchandise goods in Tokyo. The 1rst shop was inaugurated in 2023, in Katsushika, one of Tokyo’s north-east wards which is also mangaka Yoichi Takahashi’s hometown. Its success prompted the opening of this 2nd venue located in the west of the Japanese capital, in a green and family-oriented suburb at the exit of Inokashira-koen station.
The "gol." brand’s concept is to blend fashion and travel culture with soccer, providing an additional bonus to the store with a beautiful tribute to Captain Tsubasa and its characters. The gol. STORE TSUBASA Kichijoji venue is therefore tuned up with the manga’s visual codes, offering plenty of official merch as well as exclusive collaborations, displayed as if the store was a small museum.

Drawings and autographs by Yoichi Takahashi
While the storefront does not stand out much, it opens on the world of soccer and Japanese manga sketches with a full Captain Tsubasa-themed decoration:
- Beautiful noren curtains illustrated with an iconic black and white scene of the manga: the fierce aerial duel between Ozora Tsubasa and the gifted goal keeper Genzo Wakabayashi;
- At the door, a lantern sports the portrait of the main character; and,
- A collage of colorful manga panels covers a wall to use as a backdrop for selfies and showing off newly bought jerseys at the shop.
Of a rather small size, the gol. STORE TSUBASA Kichijoji shop is tastefully arranged, with the same sober, masculine and industrial approach as Katsushika’s store. The dark hues of the walls and raw materials bring out the street-wear outfits and the brand’s technical soccer clothing.
Yoichi Takahashi created a beautiful painting specially for the shop’s opening where it is still exhibited. This original illustration is not the only one that can be admired here: other drawings and products signed by Captain Tsubasa’s mangaka are on display inside the shop.

A nice selection of soccer gears for all ages
Tables and shelves are well supplied, notably with:
- Clothing of the gol. brand, an alternative soccer brand in Japan for adults and children (size availability to check in-store);
- Jerseys and accessories in collaboration with big brands such as the 9FIFTY caps by New Era;
- Captain Tsubasa official merch: figurines, pins, badges, mugs, cups, key holders, etc.
From the official merch, we particularly liked the canvas printed with the portrait of the manga’s most memorable characters, as well as the selection of products made in Japan aiming at collectors.
Customers purchasing for ¥20,000 (~US$123.57) or more can enter a lottery to win an article autographed by Yoichi Takahashi himself. At the occasion of the shop’s inauguration, there was a 4 out of 5 chances to get such a precious souvenir, a very generous gift indeed.
The gol. STORE TSUBASA Kichijoji store remains interesting even for window-shoppers, with:
- The discovery of products of the soccer brand gol. that are difficult to find elsewhere; and,
- The display of Captain Tsubasa’s collector items to immerse again in the manga’s universe.
Kichijoji area is a pleasant neighborhood to explore, especially from Inokashira Park, its green lung, especially for:

- The Hayao Miyazaki-themed pilgrimage, including the famous Ghibli Museum and the Totoro-shaped puff pastry shop called Shirohige’s Cream Puff Factory Kichijoji;
- The cute little village of Kichijoji Petit Mura; and,
- Next to the shop, the small museum dedicated to Japanese writer Akira Yoshimura (1927 - 2006) and the reconstitution of his writing room.
