UNIQLO Ginza Flagship Store is the 1rst reference department store of the Japanese fashion brand, opened since 2012 in Ginza, the shopping district in the heart of Tokyo. The brand’s collections are showcased throughout its 12 stories in a playful and artistic manner.

UNIQLO Ginza Flagship Store is located in the heart of the district, near Ginza Six shopping mall. This shop predates UNIQLO TOKYO, the other UNIQLO flagship store standing a few hundred meters away on Marronnier-dori street, in front of the Muji Ginza Flagship Store, that opened in 2020.

Quality clothing for the daily life

UNIQLO started business with a men’s clothing shop in 1984, named "Unique Clothing Warehouse" in Hiroshima. After expanding its product range to women and children’s clothing, the brand entered the international market in 2001 through the Fast Retailing group and opened its 1rst shop in London.

With an ethos based on "clothing for everyone" the brands makes clothes that are simple, qualitative and affordable. It also put emphasis on their technicality, with the creation of several clothing lines targeting specific needs, such as Airism for breathable summer apparels or Heattech, winter clothing that are warm and light, designed in collaboration with Toray, the Japanese industrial fiber specialist.

UNIQLO does not shy away from creating countless capsule collections and collaborations, regardless of the field:

  • With designer from other off-the-rack brands or couture, such as Inès de la Fressange, or brands of the Fast Retailing group like Comptoir des Cotonniers;
  • With brand ambassadors, selected among international athletes, such as Roger Federer and Kei Nishikori, leading to the creation of golf and tennis sportswear;
  • With famous Japanese or international pop culture licenses, in the UT line that has partnerships with Toei Animation, Sanrio, Bandai or Disney, among others.

Ginza flagship store

The UNIQLO Ginza Flagship Store reopened in September 2021 after renovation works. Its narrow and transparent building is spanning 12 floors and a nearly 5,000sqm superficies. It offers a comprehensive experience of the brand and all its services.

In addition to the conventional aisles for men, women and children’s wears, Ginza’s shop also has:

  • A café at the 12F, the first of the brand at the time of its opening;
  • A whole floor (11F) dedicated to the UT collection, with a purikura-type green-screen cabin to take pictures for social networks wearing UT products;
  • A Custom Corner to have UNIQLO purchases customized, or repair clothes of the brand (RE-UNIQLO) at the 5F. It also serves as a collect point for used clothing;
  • An aisle of items only sold at the Ginza Flagship store (2F), t-shirts and tote-bags illustrated with the area’s history and iconic brands.

The ground floor (1F) on the side of Chuo-dori avenue welcomes customers with a giant pendulum called LifeWear Installation. It was made in collaboration with Japanese design agency TAKT PROJECT to showcase the current seasonal collection in a perpetual motion. One of the walls displays clothes arranged in contemporary artworks. The entrance on Suzuran street is marked by a flower shop selling affordable bouquets.

UNIQLO Ginza Flagship Store is a must-see for the fans of the brand who can find there their favorite items. The others will enjoy the limited edition products of the Ginza shop that can make nice souvenirs, but not essential given the nearly infinite shopping opportunities of the area. On a side note, another UNIQLO flagship store opened in Shinjuku in October 2024.
